Installing Adobe Reader on Ubuntu 8.10

Download the installation file from here – make sure you download the .deb file. This is because you can directly run the .deb files without having to use any commands in Terminal.

After the file .deb file has been downloaded, double-click on it. When the installation window appears, click on Start Install. After you have entered your password, the installation will begin.

Once the installation has finished, you can find Adobe Reader in Applications -> Office

    Looks like the .deb package is only available for x86 users at the moment from that site.

    Try to install from Appnr: http://appnr.com/package/acroread
    See if that works.

    I downloaded the linux(tar.gz) file of aodbe reader 8.1.3 and it got extracted by archive manager but can anybody tell me now how can install the adobe reader.

    This installs the previous version. How do you install the latest version? (The Adobe site instructions are wrong).
